About the PATHWAY Act of 2007

The bipartisan Protection Against Transmission of HIV for Women and Youth Act of 2007 (PATHWAY Act) was introduced in the House by Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Congressman Chris Shays (H.R.1713) and in the Senate by Senator Hillary Clinton (S. 2415).

The PATHWAY Act in the House and Senate would require the President and the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) to establish a comprehensive and integrated HIV prevention strategy to address the vulnerabilities of women and girls to HIV infection.  Furthermore, it would strike the earmark requiring that one-third of all prevention funding be spent on to abstinence-until-marriage programs
